At the Carlsbad Sept. 6 Planning Commission meeting, Mary Anne Viney convinced commissioners that further research needs to be done before dredged sand from the outer lagoon can be deposited on city beaches. This is due to recent findings showing toxic substances in the sediment of the inner lagoon presumably washed down the watershed from ag land and urban runoff. See the SD Union Tribune article below:

California Naturalist Certification Class
We will be continuing our California Naturalist certification training in 2025 lead by two alumni, Jimmy Kidd and Lisa Kuleto.
