On June 17 a small, but efficient work party continued to clear the restoration site of Village H north of Carlsbad Village Drive of eucalyptus leaves. These leaves have been shown to affect the germination of some California native plants (http://nature.berkeley.edu/classes/es196/projects/2000final/watson.pdf). With a sizeable grove of eucalyptus on the west side of the trail, monthly work sessions are planned to continue removal of these leaves around new native plants. Contact info@preservecalavera.org if you’d like to participate.
